NGO's and their status in Society

Importance of NGO in the society

As the name suggests NGO (non-governmental organization) is a organization which is non-governmental, i.e. its working is independent of governmental interference.
The presence of NGO in the society reflects various characteristic of that society. Looking to the positive phase, the presence of NGO reflects the active character of society. That its people are aware and organizing themselves in a group to uplift the society.
The basic character of all NGO’s is nearly same and all of them works for social issues like free education, water conservation, wildlife protection, etc. Members of NGO are usually volunteers who shares same interest, though now-a –days few NGO also have employed members.
Looking to other aspect of NGO is that their presence shows the failure of government and its policies. Society pay taxes to government to look after all the needs of society but as government fails, so ultimately the people came up and NGO are formed. For e.g. it’s the duty of government to provide every child with food and education but as government fails in this aspect NGO came up with child homes, orphanages, Ashrams, etc.
This does not means that NGO are counterpart to government or substitute to government, they just act as a cushion to government so that it could focus on other issues as well.
The importance of NGO lies in the fact that they reflects the active nature of the people in society, it shows the belief of people in them, that together they can achieve a big targets. The power of togetherness and willingness and cooperative character of society came out like if they are saying to their govt.- “ keep going, keep going. We all are together.”

What can be done to promote NGO?

Coming to the point that, what can be done to promote NGO. To build a NGO a very strong and determined belief is needed in the mind of its volunteers that they can reach the success. The targets of NGO are usually above the individual level, i.e. NGO seeks for the welfare of not only its volunteers but for whole/part of society. Feeding a individual or a individual family can be a easy task as done by most but thinking and then acting also, above the individual need, i.e. work for society or nation or mankind needs the huge determinations which in turn give rise to NGO.
Like for a research work a curious, determined and childish mind is necessary a similar mind is needed for the promotion of NGO. The curiosity of children at school level should be kept on boosting forever. That childish touch in the thinking and divine aspect of that thinking are necessary because NGO will not for individual, it will work for the whole society. So it’s at the primary education level that the curiosity of child can always be boosted, Along with it morals and values should be inserted form the very beginning into the child’s mind, because it’s the values only that will give right direction to curiosity and determination in future.

Conclusion

So each individual working professional or employed is living his/her life and contributing to nation but when few individual came together and work for common cause than huge differences and development can be brought in country. NGO is a power of unity, the unseen bonds among its volunteers which can take enormous stress of society development and provide a gentle support to its government.
